these stackers are from Discount School Supplies

Walmart Winter Finds

I've always gotten mine at Target, but this is about a dollar more...
I will let you know how they are and if they work with the
Bullseye's Playground ones from Target.

New items for the writing center

From left to right:
heart colored pencils, I think those clear hearts are markers.
When they dry out, I will add them to the light table
The pencils are for Valentine's gifts :)

Made It Monday

I literally don't have a clue as to why these are so popular!?!?!

I suggest cardstock or laminated covers.
It keeps the pieces inside the carton.
I used address labels cut in fourths.
Garage sale dots work too!
It isn't high-tech at all.  ANYONE can do this quickly!!!

Above are just two side by side photos of the same game.
Below is a single photo of the game.

Today we read the word, spelled the word, said the word again, and said a sentence.

To "play"

Program your egg carton with your skill.  Use a small manipulative such as corn, eraser, pom pom. So you don't have a zillion cartons, you could use garage sale dots instead of writing on the inside of the carton.

So put in your manip. and close carton.  Shake. Open carton. Where ever your manip. lands in, is the question.

I have shakers, well two different varieties of shakers.  One kind are filled with something and in a container.  The other is made from egg cartons.  When I first started making these, I made them out of necessity- the only egg cartons I had, had openings in the top and the pom poms kept flying out!!!

I use them for so many things:

*Shapes review or identify.
*Identify numbers
*Identify letters
*Words
*Identify money or write amounts and students must make that amount using coins or dry erase boards
*Review word families- land in one spot, write or say a word from that word family
*Name something a particular color
*Place value- add 2 or 3 manips. child reads or records number (biggest or smallest)

*Really anything you need to review.

The list is infinite!!!!

It is a game that you only have to teach once and you are set for the year... THE WHOLE YEAR!!!!!

My students love to see the "new" games and pieces we are using...

Discovery Bags

Discovery Bags

They are a labor of love.

To begin them, you gather your materials and try not to buy too much more lol
I made mine, before Pinterest!

In each bag:

*Child Journal
*Parent Journal
*Books
*Folder

I have see-through bags I bought at Dollar Tree.  They have a pocket on the front.  I *gasp* hand drew them. No computer needed lol  On the back of the index card, it tells what is in the bag.

I have a parent letter that basically says if they want to participate, they would be responsible for the items in there and their child can't check out a bag until all the pieces were returned or replaced of anything was lost.

Books and counting bears

See the circle in the corner?
That is a..... plate!
I cut paper to fit and that became the cover of the kids journal.
