Text Features
As part of a Cafe menu we talked about Text Features. Here was my demo, When my students found them, they illustrated them on their own anchor chart. {For the life of me, I can't find their photo :( }

Storage
Back in the day, we used Floppy Discs, then I moved to Zip Discs, then to my 1gig jump drive.
Now on to this:
That teeny read thing is my new jump drive with 4 gigs and the small silver thing is a terabyte external hard drive!

Candle, water, and Glass
Recently we did an experiment using a tea light, food coloring, water, and a plate.
Directions:
Put food coloring in water. Pour colored water onto plate. Put a DRY tea light in the center of the plate. Light the candle, put glass over the lit candle. See what happens.
The kids were amazed at the results! What happened was the water was sucked up by the tea light. They did it over and over again with such delight!

Listen to Reading
I love my Tag Readers! The books I have are 16 kinds of awesome! They are great for elementary and ELL learners. But what about the upper grades? Look what my school library has...
There are a whole bunch of these in our library for the older children.

Dino's
Okay I have a confession... I have never taught about Dinosaurs. There I said it, out loud.
So this year I have decided to study some dinos!
I plan on using Deanna's Dino unit from TPT.
This summer, I was lucky enough to find some dino pills and plan to use them in my after school program.
Here is my dilemma... I don't know all the names of the dinos! lol
Going across:
1-brontosaurs? 7-
2- 8-
3- pterodactyl 9-
4- 10-
5- 11-
6- 12-
Can anyone help me out?
Dilemma number two- I will be doing this with 6 different classes on one day. So I am going to let someone pick two for each round. So then what? I was thinking of having them predict which ones they will get. I only have them for about 15 minutes, so it is really a short time. I am thinking of maybe having them draw something in their science logs- about which ones they think and which ones they got.
After I get an idea, I will post a printable with all of the answers plus something to go along with our guessing!
Thanks for all of your continued support and for sticking around since my last blog post as it was 16 kinds of crazy here! I have lots of great photos to share of what has been going on recently.
